EDIT:
First off let me say – WOW, I didn’t not expect this response. I’m so happy that everyone is enjoying the photos😌 I love travel research, planning itineraries and researching photo inspo. I swear I should have been a travel agent 😝
I want to address a few frequently asked questions that I am seeing in the comments. I have tried to keep up with answering as many comments as possible but I think this edit will make it easier for everyone. If I missed anything feel free to ask and I will try to respond ASAP.
FAQ:
Did I feel safe?
– Yes. I never once feared for my safety but if I am being honest, there were a few times that I felt uncomfortable. I got some stares, pointed fingers and I got spit at by an asshole in the local market. 📢 Let me say this loud and clear📢 Just because I got spit at by ONE Egyptian man does not make me have hard feelings toward the people of Egypt or judge the country any differently. He was a jerk, plain and simple. Jerks come in every shape, size and nationality. He is ONE of millions in that beautiful country. For the most part the Egyptian people made me feel very welcome. I do recommend having a guide for the most enjoyable and efficient travel experience…which brings me to the next question.
Did I have a tour guide?
– Yes. I hired a private tour guide. His name is Anton and you can find his page linked several times in the comments below. He was wonderful, reliable and professional. I highly recommend him👍🏼
How much did the trip cost?
– That’s a difficult question to answer because it will really depend on length of trip, itinerary, modes of transportation, caliber of hotels, etc. If you’re curious then send Anton a message and I’m sure he will be happy to answer.
How do I take my photos? What camera do I use?
– On this particular trip my tour guide (Anton) took the majority of the photos. All photos were edited by myself using Lightroom and the Brixton Film presets with some added touches. I take photos like these on all of my travels, I actually posted a similar post about my recent trip to Iceland here on GLT. I usually travel with one other person and we take photos for each other. I follow lots of travel pages on IG and get my picture inspo/pose ideas from there. Some people have asked for my IG handle – it can be found in the comments or feel free to message me for it. I’m not here to promote my IG, so I will not post it here. I’m just here to share my love of travel🌍
– These photos were shot with 3 different cameras : iphoneXS, Canon M50, Canon mark 5D (The Canon mark 5D was my friends camera, I usually use the Canon M50)📸
Did I go solo?
– No, I traveled with another gal pal Taya Christian who helped me with photos as well. We met on IG and had never met in person before this trip. So many things could have gone wrong (🤣) but we had an awesome time!
What should women wear to be respectful?
– Light, flowy clothing that covers shoulders and knees. I found Cairo to be more conservative. All the other cities I wore tank tops and carried a scarf with me and I did not have any issues.
Where did I get my red dress from?
– I purchased this dress on Etsy from a shop called Diouri. I paid $35 USD and they literally make that dress in every color of the rainbow 🌈
I hope you guys found this post helpful in planning your own trip to the beautiful country of Egypt!
