The main reason that I traveled to Jordan back in 2019 was to see the ancient city of Petra – one of the 7 wonders of the world! While Petra was everything I’d dreamed it be, I was pleasantly surprised by everything else Jordan had to offer.
I spent a fabulous day floating in the Dead Sea and slathering my body in its mineral rich mud. I visited ancient ruins in the capital city of Amman. I got to put my feet in the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized. And, I got to spend the night on MARS… I mean in the Wadi Rum Desert!
Wadi Rum is known as the “Valley of the Moon.” With red sand as far as the eye can see and huge sandstone cliffs towering into the sky, you will truly feel like you’ve been transported to another planet. Fun fact – it has been the location of several Hollywood movies including Star Wars, The Martian and Disney’s Aladdin remake.
In Wadi Rum you can ride camels, take a Jeep desert safari, stay at a luxury camp and smoke shisha under the stars. Let me tell you – the stargazing in Wadi Rum is absolutely incredible! There is no light or sound pollution, so the nights in the desert are so peaceful and something you must experience!
