I was absolutely BLOWN away by this place – it is a whole vibe and a half. Before I left the city, I was already online looking up property for sale so I can start saving up for my future home abroad. Needless to say, owning an apartment in Florence is now on my vision board. 😅
🗓️ WHEN TO VISIT: May – September are considered the high season, so you can expect hot weather, high prices and an increased number of tourists. Consider traveling in the shoulder season months (March, April & October) if you’re trying to beat the crowds and the heat.
🏨 WHERE TO STAY: The city center is small, walkable and contains pretty much everything you need to experience in Florence. Finding accommodation within the city center is the best way to maximize your time here and will be super convenient! I searched on Airbnb and found the dopest apartment with a slammin’ view of the Duomo.
🚅 HOW TO GET THERE: You can get to Florence fairly easily by plane, train or with a car. If you’re coming from another city in Italy, the train will more than likely be your best option. The fast train takes about 90 mins from Rome with 60+ trains making the route each day. If you are inclined to rent a car and make the journey yourself, I would make sure you research the parking situation in Florence as it may be difficult, especially in the city center.
🎨 THINGS TO DO: Wander through the streets of the city center and window shop at all of the designer stores. Cool off with a lemon spritz from one of the famous wine windows found throughout the city. Geek out over Renaissance art in one of Florence’s many museums. Snap some cute photos at one of the vintage photo booths on the street. Gaze at all the incredible architecture – especially the world famous Duomo di Firenze.
